Linda Smith
Growing up as a child in an Italian/Irish household, my parents hosted numerous parties in their tiny house in Queens. Whether it was someone’s birthday, anniversary or graduation, there always seemed to be a party going on. I was groomed to love people and parties and I was born loving checklists. As time went by, I found that creating memories of happiness that would last a lifetime had become my passion.
For the past 28 years I’ve been a longstanding member of the Staten Island community. I have a go-getter personality, so when my husband and I decided to move from Brooklyn and by a home in Staten Island, I volunteered at my daughter’s school. Being involved was important to me and I found an event planning outlet at the schools Mothers Club.That is where I met my best friend and now business partner Barbara Vullo. We started out small, organizing school dances and holiday events. Years later, when our children were grown and self-sufficient, we were still planning and crafting together whenever we had the opportunity.
During that period of time while still raising my daughter, I worked 25 years in customer service for the banking industry and became a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant to help support my family. Even though I had two other roles, everyone still knew me as "the party planner."
For countless years I volunteered to plan the annual holiday party for my employer, always asking Barbara to join in on the fun. Though my work in the banking business and cosmetic industry was satisfying, I wanted to focus my energy on making "the party planner" in me official.
In the fall of 2012, I finished my certification from The Wedding Planning Institute (LWPI) at Wagner College as well as becoming a member of the American Bridal Consultants.
My years of sales and consulting experience in the banking community and Mary Kay Cosmetics proved essential when Lavender Orchid Wedding & Events came to life. With our proven expertise and hands-on approach, I am confident your wedding or event will be a treasured, memorable experience.
When I’m not planning an event, attending a vendor meeting or envisioning weddings with my clients, I love spending time with friends, going on cruise ships and taking trips to sunny Florida with my family.
Barbara Vullo
For as long as she can remember Barbara Vullo always wanted to be an event planner. Living on Staten Island for almost 30 years Barbara dedicated her time to coordinate and plan various events at her children's school and her local church. It was at her son's school where she met Linda Smith and they began a friendship that would eventually turn into the start of a business.
Working as a Sacristan and assisting in the weddings at her church, Barbara was able to fine tune her already impeccable event planning skills and really ignite her love for planning events.
Barbara’s demeanor and expertise have put many brides and bridal party members at ease for the church ceremony. She has organized several successful Bridal Showcases that generated large sums of money for her church, as well as, creating an extensive library of vendor contacts that will be utilized in helping to plan the bride's special day.
Other parish events organized by Barbara were a Reception for Cardinal Dolan, the annual Jubilarian - 25th & 50th Wedding Anniversary Celebration, the Pastor's 40th Anniversary Celebration and the annual Volunteer Social.
Barbara has always enjoyed planning events treating everyone like they are her family.
